Rumor has it the Kingdom is interested in one of the contestants in the "experiment" trying to find a 'lite' version of the Warthog.

There are reports out that the current King may abdicate soon, leaving the path to the throne open to the Crown Prince.

The Saudis are casting about for allies to resist the Iranians.

There is talk of allying with the Israelis. Not a bad choice. Very tough army and air force. But Israel has limited reach and questionable staying power.

The Israeli Army is small and cannot hold much ground although it can defeat any army allied to Iran. Even the Russians want no part of fighting the Israelis.

Israel could easily rough up Syria or Lebanon, but they can’t occupy much ground. Just not enough troops and they don’t have the massive logistical capabilities of the US. (Who does?)

Israel is a usable one-shot trump card, but not much more. Further, Israel will come with a quid pro quo the Saudis may have problems living with. If Israel engages, they will demand a place outside to expel all the Moslems living on the West Bank and Gaza. Can the KSA live with that?

KSA’s own young Wahhabis have proven they are worthless. ISIS was mostly made up of Saudi Wahhabis and even the worthless Shi’a Iraqis cleaned the floor with ISIS.

Turkey may be a possibility. They are big (by local standards) and are better than most of the local armies (except Israel). Turkey has had a long history of rivalry with the Persians and are smarting from being shut out of the EU.

Iran can bring terrorism victories in all places the KSA is now.

My other question you answered. Was it a Patriot or s-400 used in the shoot down.

I look at KSA and Iran as a global choice between two terminal cancers...

I'd prefer to see both eradicated

An Israeli and Saudi connection could draw the US into an Iran conflict which maybe could draw in the rest of the world too. When can we stop trying to be the world's policeman and take care of our own problems?

    Interesting thread.
KSA has the tools. Iran has people all through the area that can fight.
It would be interesting to see what would happen to Iraq if the 2 powers got into it. Could be another reset button.

Without finding a couple of good allies KSA cannot defeat Iran.
