I have random insomnia.........usually when I have something important going on early the next day.

I don't worry about sleep. I remember the days when my twins were little and nothing I experience now compares to that particular lack of sleep.

I watch 30 year old football games.

About the third time there is a penalty for holding and the offense gets an automatic first down, I am out.

Valerian is a good herbal remedy. Most people have heard of melatonin as an herbal, it works, sometimes not, but 2 valerian and I'm asleep within the hour every time.

    nettle tea

If nocturia is getting you up at night, nettle tea each morning will stop it, in my experience.

Generally I have no problem going to sleep. According to a sleep study that I did I'm almost freakish because I can hit REM sleep in 3 to 4 minutes. But on those rare times that I can't fall asleep I have 2 solutions. The first is picturing being in the middle of a pond & throwing a rock out in the water. I watch the little waves travel to the shore & back to me. Very relaxing & doing that a couple of times will make me drop off. The other is watching golf on TV. I don't play or even know how to play but it puts me to sleep every time.
