What is your state unemployment rate?

In Indiana, we have 8.3% unemployment according to the Labor Bureau from May of this year. More accurately, the website Hoosier Date rates us at 8.1% (down from 8.4% the previous month), with a 2% gain in employment. That may not seem significant, but we are a state of only 6 million, so 2% is a decent jump. In addition, the holiday season is leading to seasonal hiring and a good number of companies are talking of keeping at least 10% of the new seasonal workers on for part-time and full-time status. That would be great if they did! Finally, we have a Texas company bringing an initial 150 jobs to the northern part of the state. They make the metal things for oil wells and natural gas wells. I can't remember what they are called and forget the site I was on reading about it. Any ways, the company hopes to bring an additional 500 jobs throughout the state, as they are looking into other factories that have since shutdown that could handle their operations. This could mean more jobs in more of a scattered fashion for the state, versus the traditional methods that normally all jobs come to Indianapolis and north thereof.

So, what is the unemployment rate and jobs outlook in your state?

    Hoosier Data, http://www.hoosierdata.in.gov/

EDIT: I looked at the number wrong. It was a .2% increase in jobs last month, not 2%. This is insignificant overall, but still a gain.

I suspect Kentucky is high because of the assault on coal in the Eastern part of the state. I don't think NC has that many coal mines do they? I wonder what is causing the unemployment there...

And your President wants to shut out coal even more. He is a bad President, the bastard.

I don't think NC has any coal mines. I heard yesterday that obama's sneaky-ass regulations is about to shut down all coal-firing of plants. Anyone know anything about that?

I would caution you in how you state "your", especially when directed towards me and with the President. ;-)

It isn't so sneaky. He has spent the past three years using the EPA to shut down the mines and they (EPA) have stated that coal is too dirty for Americans to use, despite being a huge domestic and export commodity. I feel for the people of West Virginia, Virginia, Kentucky, Pennsylvannia, as coal has been the only jobs for a century in some areas and in the case of W. Virginia, coal was the employer for everyone.
