They should spend the remainder of their life thinking about what they did.
Instead, felons get free healthcare (better than many non-felons get), free cable-tv, games like pool to play, conjugal visits, 3 meals a day, free room and board.... and many even get college educations all at tax-payer expense.

Sorry...but...some heinous murderers need to be sent on to their REAL judgment and punishment swiftly. Not be allowed to live a lifetime of relative luxury (compared to homeless on the streets) at the expense of law-abiding tax-paying folks.

    So I strongly disagree.

It's quite simple, really. The leftists support the murder of innocents in the womb (and even after they are yanked out).....while defending the lives of murderers. The left aligns itself with evil, IOW. Makes perfect sense that they would want their own side to get away with their evil deeds by being allowed to live out their lives on the tax-payer dime. Especially since the left considers folks that DO pay their taxes to be suckers and dopes.

Why is this a topic? This curr Lockett is a four time felon who shotgunned a 19 year old woman and than forced her friends to bury her alive. Why in the world would anyone worry how painful or gruesome his death is? Our society should not being taking the side of a total loser like Lockett over that of the pain and gruesome murder of his 19 year old victim.
While I would not show that jerk any kindness...as a civilized NATION... we can't go sadistic and brutal. We'd become like the guy we executed.

I'm baffled. Every day someone dies from a self administered Lethl Injection...often Heroin. You could often put these guys in a room with a needle and a batch of Heroin...and they'd execute themselves.

Like it or not, we will be devolving back to basics. Ultimately, justice will be served upon commission of being caught, whether during or after the crime. Much cheaper and much more efficient. Of course I refer to a time when the "justice" system has been relegated to obscurity as useless.

The main concern I have is the fact that some truly guiltless folks get convicted of monstrous crimes,

and the death of one of these innocents turns us/US into the "murderers."

Life WithOUT Parole should mean JUST THAT ~
    no opportunity for release,
unless new evidence is introduced to prove their innocence.

I also don't believe that insanity should be a legitimate plea,

and I would have NO PROBLEM "housing" these criminals in the MINIMUM of comfort.
    Got nothing left to prove

Well, yeah, there IS ^that^ ~

if the citizenry is armed and able to defend themselves,

a lot fewer cases of mistaken identity will be going to any sort of trial.

    Good point, @teeceenj !

If a person does not act in a civilized manner, why should he be afforded a civilized death?

That said, I believe lethal injection to be the most humane execution method. And how hard does it have to be? They hook up an IV that delivers a pleasant, high-inducing drug into your veins...which makes you feel like you are floating and makes you not give a damn WHAT they do to you. Like when you have surgery, it is a stress-relieving experience. Then, once you are completely unconscious, they inject the drug that stops your heart. Your last thoughts were floaty, pleasant ones. The only difference between this and surgery is....from this you never wake up. THAT is humane. Hell, they use it on animals....and PETA wouldn't allow it if not. Right?

So to "botch" this execution was an attempt by the left to demonize lethal injections everywhere. Problem is....we have enough stupid people in the USA (now)....that might fall for it.
If this was really done for the reason you say it was than I applaud the left, because this scumbag didn't deserve to go out that peacefully.
