    Military marches

I bet if this were played in the presence of progs, they would all leave.

Beginning at 1:49 there is a tune that has been in my head for a few days. (But dont skip to there; you'll miss the wonderful 'monkey wrapped his tail around the flagpole' if you do.)I marched to this at Officer Training School close to 40 years ago... to class, to the cafeteria, to the flag raising and lowering, everywhere. That's how long this stuff stays with you.

And I played that march until I could play by heart. It's still me to this day. I was in one of the Army National Guard bands.

Ahh the Theme from the "Dirty Dozen" where Donald Sutherland impersonates a general. His finest part

And in the Navy, I was musically impaired. In boot camp...seems there was a instrumental unit either recruits striking for the Musician rating, or maybe peramanently-assigned sailors from other parts of the base (Grate Lakes). But at 2200 hours, they'd gather in the parade pad in the center of our recruit barracks buildings, and play Taps.

And Revielle, although we didn't need it. We got the garbage-can wake-up call. The RCC would come in, kick a garbage can across the deck, and scream at us.

We learned parade formation and marching without music. And really, the only thing I heard in the Fleet was, the Anthem and Anchors Away. And, when there was a special occasion, a smattering of pop music.
