Could he of changed that? No...but he knew what was going to happen. Prior to his passion he told his followers what he was about to suffer. He didn't just come out and say it like one of us would. He made inferences...he told his mother about it too. She knew was was going down. She knew something was going to happen after Joesph and her took Jesus to the Temple and offered the pigeons to Simeon the old priest (when Jesus was a baby). Simeon told her that a dagger would enter her heart (meaning the suffering she would need to endure during his passion). You can find all this in the gospels.

Anyway, my point is, God is all knowing but there are a very few times where he has intervened. Saul going blind on his way to persecute the Jews is one example. Starting to lose focus and I am ending up just rambling....will stop.

So God KNEW what was going to happen to man IF he created him - sin, suffering, judgement, Catholic hell, the whole 9 yards?

How does that square with being loving and merciful? Wouldn't the TRULY merciful action have been to not create man at all?

There are both rewards and consequences (attached thereto) to ones decisions in life. Your call (choice).

No the best action "God" could have made when creating man would have been to create him with the wisdom to choose not to sin.

We know this could have been done easily enough because every Christian will tell you once you make it to heaven there is no sin.

Well, I have the wisdom to avoid pizza, since I'm on a diet, but sometimes I give in. There is temptation which can override wisdom at times.

What I want someone to explain is WHY, if God DIDN'T want Adam to sin, he transported him to a place in PROXIMITY to a "Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil", and then ALLOWED a tempter to come on the scene and influence Adam to doubt what God had told him. It seems like God, if anything, went out of his way to INSURE that Adam would transgress, and suffering and death and judgement would ensue?

Interesting that the one thing "God" forbid Adam, was knowledge.

    Knowledge of good and evil.

Why do you suppose that is?

Because he didn't want Adam to be good?

BTW - There is NEVER a good reason to deny knowledge.
