    I used simple green sprayed on the stock, and then placed it in a trashbag, and put it in my car trunk to get some heat on it.

    Worked well enough but the smell never fully goes away. On the Mosin, I used boiled linseed oil over the existing finish 15 years ago and it still looks great.

    For my K31's I used shellac as a finish.

    If and when the shit really does hit the fan, every little dindu is going to have a "gun". A "gun" won't get you very far, except against the defenseless.

    That being said, yes you should keep some stuff off site and readily available.
