    Fake doucuments

I always hear that the immigrants should be treated the same as a citizen. Well, it seems like they receive the red carpet treatment. Unemployment is not charity, but one who applies they have to jump through hoops & crawl over hot coals to get their own money. To deal with the DMV they need an affidavit from the pope.

But, the illegal immigrants get around the red tape because they are so special. What about the illegal immigrants caught with stolen SS cards. so i guess it's ok to screw up an citizens life.

Regardless of the Gov agency, the illegals are permitted to take the easy way. Are American citizens allowed to have stolen/fake documents.

If the IRS simply did a search of areas where there are duplicate SSNs operating, they could find many ILLEGAL immigrants.

If the SSA did a similar search of their database, they could find the same kind of info.

If you have the same SSN being used in Texas and Indiana to make deposits into the same SS account, at a minimum, that should set off a flag for further investigation. If there is no evidence that the person with that SSN has residency in both areas and is working on both areas, then you have most likely found ILLEGAL immigrant activity.

I find it veeeeeeeeeeeeedy interesting that the IRS doesn't take this approach.

As for the red carpet aspect for ILLEGAL immigrants, I will add this fact and let everyone make up their own mind.

When a LEGAL immigrant applies for residency in the US, they typically have a US Citizen sponsor unless they can prove they have their own financial means to support themselves. The US Sponsor has to file an Affidavit of Support (form I-864) showing their ability to be financially responsible for the immigrant applicant so that the immigrant will not become a charge of the state or welfare recipient. So, the US Citizen sponsor has a contract with the US government that they are financially responsible for the immigrant for a period of 10 years or until they obtain US Citizenship. The immigrant is usually allowed to apply for US Citizenship 5 years after issue of their Resident Alien ID Card which is effectively takes less than 1 year after application for US Citizenship. So, the sponsor is usually on the hook for 5.5 to 10 years.

I know this process because I have gone through it for my wife and a few of her family members.

While the IRS and the SSA do seem to interface some for the verification of SSNs and amounts withheld from payroll, they don't seem to talk with each other much further than that. These different government agencies have set up completely different databases that don't interface well. However, it would seem that these two agencies could find a way to make it work.

Although my identity has not been stolen sufficient to affect my personal finances, my tax return was once flagged as fraudulent. I had to answer a long IRS questionnaire to prove I was who I said I was and the rightful recipient of my refund (another reason NOT to overpay). Believe me, they know more about you than you yourself can remember. They already have the data, they just CHOSE to ignore it. President Trump has ordered federal agencies to go use that data to identify where non citizens are. As slow as the government is, he will need 2 more terms to get an answer.

We know the data is there. They just need to use it for such purposes.

A few years ago my accountant said I couldn't file my taxes with the IRS electronically because someone had already used my SS to get a refund on a bogus income tax account.

"Great. That means I don't have to file or pay."
    "No."

He went on to explain that the bogus refunds were a cottage industry in prison and no one, certainly no Democrat, wanted to stop it.

I said, "The IRS is a federal agency and so I Social Security. Can't the IRS run the names and numbers through the SS to make sure they match?"

My account said, dryly, "Apparently not."
Our system, from top to bottom, is designed to permit fraud.

When I was working as a police officer I had a list that showed how to tell from the SS number the state in which it was issued. When someone's identification included a SS card I'd ask them where they lived when they got it and often they got it wrong. I also saw instructions for creating a totally bogus SS number from scratch. It explained what each number meant and what structure it had to conform to.
