Perhaps this guy hid his tatoos before the robbery, then done away with the makeup afterward??/

That's a reasonable and plausible theory.

Though gang-members are not known for their particularly high IQ and creativity.

But in any case altering/tampering with evidence is enough to have his lawyer say "procedural defect". And that kind of defense tend to hold in court...

I cannot imagine the alternative working; having a line-up with FIVE other face-tatted men! There would be no fairness there, either. What shall we do? Just let the miscreant go because he marred his appearance with tattoos?

Makeup can cover a tattoo. One could use washable tattoos too for the opposite effect.

I don't know, but isn't it possible the suspect could have been wearing makeup, maybe to try to cover up distinguishing tattoo markings on his face?

Eyewitness testimony can sometimes be unreliable. A lot of people don't realize that. Especially when the witness is a different race from the criminal suspect. And a lot of pressure is put on the witness to identify the criminal and put them in prison. The witness doesn't want to say "I'm 80 percent sure" when it's a serious crime and there's a danger the criminal may get off.

Eyewitnesses are believed by juries but are highly unreliable. Almost all the actual research has been done by Loftus. If you search "Eyewitness testimony research by Loftus" you'll get a number of hits. Bottom line, less reliable than flipping a coin.

In one test an white actor with a gun was robbing two men in an elevator, one white and one black. Witness identified the robber as a black man with a knife.

I don't find it odd. I also suspect the police officers were following advice from prosecutors.

I dont believe that as it is currently written. There is more to that story or just a lie.

Possibly but it doesn't seem unreasonable to me. We had a photo line-up for a man with no nose. It's not easy and his lawyer made a big deal out of the others photos no having anyone with a rubber flap for a nose.

A little unrelated, but my father brought home a mugshot book when I was about 10. You would remember, the one with all the different photos of criminals, seeing as no computers way back then.

Anyways, he had some fun with me, flipping through to 2-3 full pages, asking me what I thought about this guy and that guy...and chuckling after a while to point out, well, they were all the same man.

Point being these criminals are exceptional at altering their appearances.

The Progressives have become full blown NAZIs, to thwart a Hitler that doesn't exist...since that is the only way they can express, and self justify, their fascism.

It says right in the story that they suspected him of using cover up make up. Making what they did a not wholly unreasonable or nefarious step.
Just another story in the never ending drip drip drip of the systemic racism drivel the leftard media vomits up every day.

They'd rather see this piece of shit get away.
