Very strange ice formations in Chile

Chile is the land of extremes for sure. But these ice formations are brand new to me. Do we have posters that know of this and can enlighten us on them? Red algae grows on the ice at points in the formation. This is in the Andes mountains.

Here is a photo and a link so you can look it up.

im watching two things there. the tobifera can produce oil in different spots, and some copper deposits have deposits of as great as 48-58% iron underneath them. my guess is if youve got red ice, its from iron oxide.

I would have thought wind along with blown debris (sandblasting the ice) would have done that during the melt of ice masses. But I think given there is no dirty look to most of the ice, my sandblasted theory is incorrect. I still believe the wind has a role, just not sure about the rest.
