I did not see the 30K watts. That's a lot of power.
I find it difficult to believe towers that close needing those power requirements.

I am no expert on this by any means as I just started learning about this on Sunday. I picked up a little on two different radio programs - very little as I didn't catch the entire shows. But I heard that this capacity will be needed for self-driving cars and trucks. Could there be more to it than that? I don't know.

Let me address this later, I'm using my phone and not a computer.

5G is a redesign and has certain limitations requiring the redesign.

The overall system power requirements may not be as severe as some believe.

As for self driving cars, 5G reduces latency to times faster than the human brain receives signals. Hence the self driving cars example.

Its going to take a boatload of antennas in a 5G system. One method of reducing power is electronically steered signals. Basically beaming signals to a target. Plus 5G can "go to sleep " to reduce power.

    Interesting topic.
