My mother used to do it in a wood rectangle thing and the milk from our cows ..that became cream then butter and cold ice water, water from the well...and a *baratte en bois* that was from my grand mother

Then put the butter in those

We had place like that to stash veggies, butter etc

That is an awesome wooden churn. I've never seen one like that.

Our churn was a gallon wide mouth Jar ~ you know the ones with a bout 6" top ~ with a hole in it ~ and a wood rod with a round wood cookie with holes in it ~ seemed to take a long time to make butter ~ I never once completely made butter ~ sisters or cousins made it ~ we lived in the big house on the folks ranch, three uncles and two cousins were part of the clan then ~ it was great ~ we went to Catholic School then ~ one of the nuns thought there was something funny about the family ~ like we might be a closet mormon group or the like ~ Sister Angela Clair ~ twenty years later I went by the convent in Alhambra to see my kinder garden teacher ~ and Sister Angela Clair said: There was something funny ~ later, I told my sister and she said, Sister always thought that ~ had I known, I could have said ~ Sister, we were just and Old Country Family with three of mothers brothers living with us before they got married ~ put her mind at ease ~ everyone thought we were rich too ~ but no just the big house and ranch ~ house was built for a lady know as the Bell of Georgia ~ came by to look at the house when I was about 7 ~ played the piano for us ~ she was still beautiful ~ must have been 60 or 70 ~ I never got her name ~ the Big House once controlled 220 acres in Gardena Valley ~ well, that's another story ```

We never had a root shed ~ we had a cellar that could be entered from the kitchen ~ where I was sure something terrible must live ~ there was this tire sample about three inches wide and maybe twelve inches long, half inch thick that sat on the molding above the low cellar door in the kitchen, to spank us with if we were bad ~ never did we get spanked with it ~ one day I opened the cellar door and threw the rubber tire sample as far into the dark beneath the stairs leading down to hell or something worse ~ the next day the sample was sitting again on the molding above the door and I knew it was a bad sign but nothing was ever said about it ```

Truthfully unlike most folks found Dr. Theodroe Kaczynski "inspirational".

Not so much for what he "did"..

It was about going out in woods, nailing up a shack, and telling the rest of the world to screw off...

Raised parsnips even had dug a root-cellar

Again I dont necessrrily agree with the rest of the stufff..

And these ya be part of the "system" and "registered" or they cut ya off "completely" from "society"

    "Shoot" it or shook it?

Shooting it would be more fun!
