Who Should The Press Secretary To Trump Be?

With the loss of the combative Sarah Sanders as Press Secretary, is the position still vacant, because President Trump, every time he goes to step onto Marine 1, stops and holds a rather lengthy, off-the-cuff press conference with the Washington Press Corp on the White House lawn.

Certainly the job of Presidential Press Secretary is a boilerplate position, requiring someone who is loyal, manipulative, combative, supportive and also on occasion a liar. To step in front of 75-members of America's leading media representatives on live television, almost daily, and answer, deflect, lie, manipulate and try to satisfy all of them, in turn, giving each reporter (none who like the President), media time, and also protect the President's flank, has to be a no-win job. But, somebody has to do it.

My personal choice for the job right now would be an attractive and loyal GOP and Presidential supporter, with a fiery rhetorical style all her own, well known, currently the victim of the big Facebook demons which fired her, and are being sued in return - Tomi Lehran.

Thoughts? I think she would be perfect for the job, she is young (24), experienced in media and television, has over $4 million Facebook followers (although FB made her page go blank) over her pro-choice remarks recently on "The View."Big Deal." Those were her personal views, she isn't in any position to legislate abortion out of our political narrative.

Would be an attractive addition to the White House team, another women appointed by Trump to a high ranking position, one that gives her a platform in politics, and the potential for a later political career in Congress, the Senate, a Governor or possibly the VP or Presidential nod in a decade. Plus, she is from Texas, a solid RED state, and moving into the huge media arena of WH Press Secretary would appease our Texas friends, and mitigate any support the fake Hispanic Beto has in that state.

I like her - and think President Trump, who loves to pull surprises, particularly against the media dawgs who like to complain about his hostility toward women, should make the appointment. None of those White House journalists is going to outsmart or surprise her with their brainpower.

I like her, too, but please, let's not go overboard. But, as @Kodiak stated, the new press secretary has already been chosen.

*As an aside, I took affront to your insinuation that a press secretary needs to lie, and that a decent man would choose one who would lie for him.
Lying - in case, perhaps, you are protecting someone's life from evil-doers - is never necessary.

I wish he would have picked a black female like Candice Owens or Deneen Borelli just to shut up those clowns yelling racist. Probably wouldn't stop them, but how stupid would they look calling him racist with a black press secretary.

Lying - in case, perhaps, you are protecting someone's life from evil-doers - is never necessary.
Since the job of press secretary essentially involves communicating the President's policies and actions to the American media, no longer trustworthy, and is a hostile group of hungry dawgs lying and making insinuations about the President almost every time he announces a policy, lying to these fools is essential at times. They know how the system works and no press secretary is going to give the media the transparency so necessary for an administration to succeed. Take the case of Pierre Salinger, PS for John Kennedy, who was forced to lie repeatedly to the media before the President's speech on national television announcing the Naval embargo against Cuba in 1962. Man, many times, the Press Secretary is only privy to what the Administration wants him/her to know at the time, requiring the PS to be manipulative, actually lie, or refuse to answer questions.

During Watergate, almost everyone associated with that scandal lied to the media. The only actually honest one at that time seemed to be someone who wasn't a member of the administration, the wife of Attorney General John Mitchell, Martha Mitchell, who used to call up reporters in the middle of the night and give them stories, many of which turned out to be true. You have to understand the mentality of official Washington, D.C. The media is not your ally usually. If they are honest and non-biased, they will dig for the truth, unfortunately, there are no members of the current White House Press Corps who qualify as legitimate journalists. They are advocacy and adversarial towards the President. Anybody stepping into the position of Press Secretary knows that they are not going to be told the entire truth by the President on administration matters, and will be instructed routinely, on what they can and can't answer to the media.

Look at the horrid media relations today between what used to be the coziest, flag waving agency in the Federal government after the U.S. Marines - the FBI. The Attorney General is a political post, the FBI is a bureaucrat one and the DOJ has never in its history been able to match the FBI's reputation for honesty, intelligence and bravery, nor their preening and slavish attention getting good press relations, as we have observed in today's environment, are dishonest and untrue. The FBI today lies all of the time, trying to protect a scarred reputation of their involvement in attempting to overthrow the President of the U.S. J.Edgar Hoover was the best Press Secretary in America's history - when he spoke, he usually had the truth - and the truth about who, what, where, when or how, kept official Washington politicians in line, because he had the dirt on them.

Perhaps I should have used the term obfuscation instead of lying, implies muddling up the waters of truth on occasion, but official Washington politicians and agencies lie all of the time to the media, and in today's environment, with a propaganda driven media attempting to overthrow the President, will stick to my original statement that a good Press Secretary must deflect and occasionally lie to the media because there are many things in official Washington that are not the business of the media, and even when Trump himself appears before the media, their biased reporting is so disgusting that personally, I wouldn't ever speak to them and stick to twitter, which is today's FDR Fireside Chats, and reaches more American's then all the news agencies put together.

Meanwhile, since she is unemployed, I thing young and attractive Tommi Lahren would be an excellent addition to the White House team. I have never heard of he lady Trump appointed, she might be great and has a tough act to follow in Sanders, but have seen Lahren in action, she knows her stuff. Sorry to bring home the cold hard truth that politicians lie, but, it has been true from both sides, the political and the media, since FDR started his Fireside Chats in the 1940's, and JFK decided to televise his press conferences live.

Do I really seem the type who needs to be lectured on how things run in Washington, D.C., the fact the politicians lie, and the media is untrustworthy?

    Seriously?

Furthermore, it's highly doubtful that someone with the backbone, moral fortitude, character, and quick wit of the likes of Sarah Sanders is a liar.
"I can't answer that," is not a lie, and is often what the press is told.

Seriously? Yes you do, since you added the little addendum to your post that you took offense and were affronted at me characterizing politicians, media and bureaucrats as liars, and/or, the need to lie either occasionally, or all the time. What is your opinion on the Gang of 4 in the House of Representatives, lying everytime they speak in public, or media from formerly respected networks and print media like CNN, ABC, NBC, MSNBC, "The Washington Post" and "The New York Times" making up stories routinely for three years, trying to sabotage the American agenda Trump is ushering in? "The New York Times" - 'All The News That's Fit To Print' is the old gray lady motto - and they routinely make up stories, usually on a daily basis, to keep the anti-Trump, Russian collusion and obstruction of justice agenda alive and constantly before the public. Lying is now their motto, and anybody who hasn't stopped believing in anything America's mainstream media prints or broadcasts is out-of-touch, irresponsible or just plain stupid.

Within that narrative, the Executive Branch of the government, in just one example I used, the now totally corrupt FBI, allied with the anti-Trumper media, and Democratic socialists lies to the American people all of the time. Do you think the CIA tells America the truth?

All I did was remind you that even trusted positions in the government, whether Trump supporters or anti-Trumpers lie, and one of the ways they lie, is in misleading the American media. They don't deserve to be told the truth on anything.
