Yeah. Meats, fruits, and veggies? No WAY!

And, btw, some stores stock things like Parmesan Cheese and bread crumbs in the oddest of places, so yes, I ask, "Where in the devil is it?!"
Besides that, stores are fond of switching things around - every other time you're at the store, it seems - these days, so is it any wonder people ask, "Where'd ya move it to THIS time?"

Shit...I violated one on that list. Used to eat at "Mom's" on South Dale Mabry near the Buc's stadium in Tampa, frequently. Located next to the famous full nudy bars of Tampa (I only ever went in one...for real, Mon's Venus) and open 24 hrs IRRC

A good greasy spoon with a brisk business, bet it's still there. Anyone here been in Tampa much has probably eaten there.

Anyhow, I digress but see your point. I'll add this...never insert it, into crazy. Probably have better luck with the deli lady.

I can't expect a 20-year-old resentful professional protester with a gig at Wally World's loading gate, to pick my food as carefully as I will.

Then there's simple mistakes - mostly honest, but if I make them, I know who to blame. Minimizes drama.

Finally...I buy a lot of frozen stuff. Life is easier that way - no worries about the carrots rotting or the eggs or beef cuts going over, because you chose to eat out on the spur of the moment. How LONG is that frozen stuff on the pallet jack? I take an iced cooler with me when I shop; and put the frozen goods right in in the car.

That's one bit of progress I don't see a need for.
Like I told Retired, I'll choose my own groceries, TYVM. My own daughter is into that online shopping, pick it up w/no need to get out of the car stuff. What gets me, is that she's so picky about her diet, but doesn't stop to think about what others are choosing for her.
Thanks for bringing this up. I'm gonna ask if MILK is on her list. I'm always careful to pick the latest expiration date, even when I'm sure it'll be consumed long before that date, as it's the freshest. Duh. Does she think the stock clerk does that?

Oh drat. I plumb forgot. She won't have any of that stuff w/all those hormones in it in her home. (Yeah, we all love our children, but sometimes....)

I ALWAYS get the cold stuff with the farthest out date, I get some strange looks at times, digging all the way back, I care not it's our (me and the Mrs) $ and I want the absolute freshest, not the stuff up front THEY want me to grab.

I must now concur, after getting a custom Italian the other day, I got another yesterday. Provolone cheese, baby spinach (instead of lettuce) a bit of mayo and mustard, tomatoes, black olives, onions.

Parmesean cheese and oil on 7 grain. 1 ft for 7$ PLUS....the hottest women in all of DeSoto county, shop there!
That was @Rickety Plumber that said Publix beats Wawa. Me, I like both of them, if I had to give the nod either way... I don't know. I think a lot of it depends on who makes your sandwich on any given day.

That being said, I think I will stick with making my own because I know what I like

When I make a sandwich, I buy a full loaf of fresh Italian bread, some roast beef, sliced turkey or chicken, and bacon. I slice the bread in thirds and put two of them in a gallon ziplock and into the fridge.

Cook the bacon, slice up some onions, chop some lettuce and slice a tomato.

I use the first 1/3rd of Italian loaf and smear each side with a little mayo, then add just a very light drizzle of mustard. The bottom is roast beef, chicken/turkey, bacon. The top is onion, lettuce (oil and vinegar is added to the lettuce), banana peppers, tomatoes (salt and pepper the tomatoes) and pickles. Slap it together and eat.

You will, of course, notice a major ingredient is missing. Cheese. When I make this I usually eat a chunk of cheese on the side, smoked cheddar usually, sharp or white cheddar otherwise. I know most people eat chips/fries or something like that, but this is a huge sandwich even at a third at a time, I pack on the meat and veggies. So I like cheese on the side and skip the extra carbs. I still get overly full, but at least it does not put me to sleep.

Of course, after the first sandwich, I have 2 more days of glorious goodness waiting

Good on you. I do the same. Milk, sour cream, cottage cheese, other cheeses, I LOOK. ALWAYS reach to the back. Do the same with crackers, even if I seldom buy them.
Gotta admit, though, the sour cream and cottage cheese stuff always has the same 'freshness date' no matter how far you dig back, so just buy what feels coolest.

And before anybody says anything, I know the 'freshness date' doesn't mean it's definitely spoiled by then. It simply means that you can get your money back IF it spoils before that date.
Still, what's on the back of the shelf is always usually the freshest, so that seems the logical thing to do.

Sounds great, I am deep into a sleeve of saltines at this point, after 'a couple' beers and this time of night, they taste incredible!

Gotta start making em like that again, i did years ago.

If for no other reason, it seems logical that items further back are coldest. They want to piss and moan about "green" energy? How efficient can those open fridge and freezer cases be? Makes the entire section of store, cold as hell!
