The EU and the Ghost in the Machine: How Brexiteers constructed an EU Bogeyman

    SPAM link removed
In this article, I look at the rhetoric surrounding the Brexit debate and how many people (nearly always on the leave side) have manipulated discussion around it to present the EU not as a complex political union between countries but rather as some foreign country which seeks the UK's destruction. I don't aim to comment on whether Brexit is good or bad (although as you will tell from reading it, I think it's the latter) but rather focus on some aspects of the debate surrounding it.

I stopped reading at the second line – ‘In 2003 — when the EU was in its infancy …’ 2003? Rubbish. The EU has been going for decades and really started to expand around 95. The EU replaced the old Soviet Union. Read Pork Chops version and educate yourself. No download necessary, just scroll down to read.

The link is OK, it just contains the usual lefty stuff.

I’ll let Nigel Farage explain what the EU is in three minutes and it isn't fear mongering.

ok, we have had your side as a dissenter on brexit [i'm going to assume you are in the uk]

and @Pork Chop reply [he is also in the uk]

do you wish to reply to his replies?

or are you here just to see your thoughts in the internet?

debate requires discussion. its a back and forth conversation.

can you elaborate WHY you "feel" the way you do, in your own words?

Why England and her people put itself in such a position was one dumb ass move. England was always a world leader on her own without taking on the mess in Europe and allowing herself to be ruled by foreigners.

Britain did vote to join the European Economic Community, but as the EU became political, all further integration was the result of politicians taking Britain further and further into Europe without any vote. The irony is that Brexit was a vote to leave the EU which the people hadn’t voted to join in the first place.

America had the same problem. If you look at BLM or Antifa what do you find? The vast majority are in their early twenties; they’re all products of the Obama years. The ice caps were going to melt, Trump was going to start WW3, detention centers are concentration camps … Obama ran for eight years, now imagine the EU when it went into overdrive during the mid-nineties and then imagine what a wreck America would look like after a quarter century of Obama! You wouldn't be complaining about California, you'd all be living in it.

If you’re under 40 in the UK you’ve never known anything but rule from Brussels, mass-immigration, crime waves, drug epidemics and a Muslim Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, who informs the gullible that the threat of terror attacks are “part and parcel of living in a big city.” Getting blown up by Muslims is normal?!

What I’d say to Brum (short for someone who comes from Birmingham), is look at Europe. Look at the UK. Show me anywhere in the EU’s cultural melting pot where everyone lives in harmony. You haven’t been voting for a utopia Brum, you’ve been voting for cultural Marxism and anyone who disagrees is a homophobe, Islamophobe, racist or Nazi. Brum – From Blair to May, they took your generation to the cleaners, just as Obama did his.
