John Walton Passes Away-Walton & Johnson

It is with great sorrow and sadness that i pass along the news that John has passed away.
For the legions of fans across the country who have listened to the morning radio talk show 'The Walton & Johnson Show' for the last 30 years like myself, the loss is a heavy one.

John was a staunch conservative and very knowledgeable about all aspects of political gendre. He was not afraid to tell it like it is and inject some of the best humor along the way.

My condolences to his family and friends.

    Pic in link.

They were dinosaurs. The local/regional radio act - that is good and reflects the community.

Rush Limbaugh revolutionized talk-radio; but taking it national lost some connection with local communities. And today's minimum-wage blandwich programs on local radio...not worth the time.

Too bad I didn't find them, back when web-streaming of local radio became the thing, 15 years ago.

Not sure how many, but they were still on dozens of markets in the south, maybe more, and actually still expanding.
You could not pull the wool over John's eyes.

He was outing the Obama lies in 2007-2008 long before O became the messiah.
I can assure you, knowing you, you would have enjoyed the show.

I'm sure there will be re-broadcasts for a while. I don't know what the future holds.
I know what was Walton & Johnson will never be duplicated.

I'll see if I can find out how many markets they were in.

Before going national Rush was on Sacramento's 50KW KFBK.

SF's KSFO has mostly national shows, though Michael Savage lives in the SF Bay Area. Savage started with, IIRC, a weekend show on KGO, and then moved over to KSFO for a weekday show before going national. KSFO's morning drive show is local, originally hosted by the late Lee Rodgers and Melanie Morgan, and now hosted by Brian Sussman (who occasionally fills in for Savage and, IIRC, Mark Levin). At present I think ConservaTalk is continuing to be a mix of National and local shows - e.g. LA's KFI has Tim Conway Jr.. Sacramento's Armstrong and Getty have a morning drive show that is played on Sacto, Stockton, and SF Bay Area stations.

I didn't know who he was, but, sounds like a good guy...RIP.

John Walton happens to be the name of Ralph Waite's character on, "The Waltons" which I happen to be watching right now....big coincidence.

Hmmm. All I got was the five-minute vid, which I'd already seen.

I wasn't able to load the photo series, either. Must be my browser - I only go Private to sites like that, and sometimes they rig it so you can't see what they're selling unless you let them infect your browser with, whatever.

I guess from the short write-up, he had something terminal, or a combination...and it got him his last day. Having had family members with cancer, I know how that plays out.
