@East of the Beast
Thanks for posting. You, I and @ChemEngineer all posted Memorial Day threads but they get few replies. It always amazes me because I posted for 15 years on a site that was full of Veterans and being Patriotic was a Prime topic there. Sadly, it seems to get little notice here, even on Holidays honoring our Military.

No disrespect to you @potlatch but I think the lack of replies shows a ton of respect to our fallen soldiers. I saw this thread title and after opening it found the picture worthy of little to no words but much respect.
@East of the Beast picked a great photo that shows exactly why we have a Memorial Day. No words needed.

I guess I have to disagree with you a bit Rickity. How is that different than opening any thread, finding you fully agree with it, or are touched by it, so you just nod agreement to yourself and pass it on by?
Where I used to post they sometimes posted just a "bump", which showed it merited notice and bumped it to the top of the threads.

America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.

Millions of eloquent words have been spoken and written about our fallen heroes, including President Lincoln's famous 1863 'Gettysburg Address'.
The photo in the OP is all that is necessary to remind us of the honor due our many soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice in war. The reason Memorial Day was originally created and made official in 1971..
I'm sure any words I might post would not surpass those of Lincoln or enhance to any degree the somber and moving photo in the OP.
That being the case, I'll simply thank the poster (East of the Beast) for their contribution to this year's Memorial Day observance here on TPF.

"Need" now means wanting someone else's (taxpayer) money. "Greed" means wanting to keep your own profit. "Compassion" is when a politician arranges the transfer. - Joseph Sobran

Hard to believe that happened in Texas, which is very conservative where I live. We have Warrior Weekend here every year and hundreds of Flags are posted in a field. They are taken on deep sea fishing trips and many other things. People line the roadsides for a Veteran's funeral....
