    This news broke Friday of last week, but, as is par for the course, it just wasn’t big enough news to make most of your trusted news sources.

    Want proof? Do a Google search. You will find a few of those “red” Newsguard sites covered the story if you dig deep enough in the search results.

    The U.S. Justice Department announced on Friday that Malaysian businessman Low Taek Jho and former Fugees rapper Prakazrel “Pras” Michel have been charged with conspiracy after allegedly funneling tens of millions of dollars into Obama’s campaign fund.

    It's almost against my religion, but I Googled "Fugees". Here are my top results:

    Are NBC News, the NYT, and Bloomberg major enough as "news" sources go? ANY time you see an article claim that the mainstream media are not covering ______, fact-check the claim. It's almost always false clickbait.

    That said, is there evidence Obama's campaign knew the money from the rapper was in fact foreign money? If not the article's main claim is clickbait hype.

    I remember it during his two campaigns! There was plenty of talk about his electronic fundraising and how he was getting money from foreign countries in ways that concealed the donor's identity.

    Obama’s 2012 Digital Fundraising Outperformed 2008

    Foreigners and foreign companies are forbidden by law to contribute to political campaigns. They are especially not allowed to funnel 21.6 million dollars from foreign donors to a campaign.

    The campaign brought in more small-dollar fundraising through email, social media, mobile and its website

    The Obama team raised about $690 million digitally in 2012, up from about $500 million in 2008, according to a senior campaign adviser. That number includes all contributions that were given electronically, including some donations that were generated by high-dollar fundraisers but logged through the website.

    Much as your research is appreciated - and it sincerely is - it's their job to know the source of the campaign funds. If illegal, the funds are supposed to be sent back.

    I remember that Bill Clinton had received money from a Chinese(?) temple during one of his elections and nothing was done about it. I guess Barrack thought that if the white boy can do it, why not the black boy.
