Sniper With America’s Longest Kill Shot Record Arrested At Death Scene

first published on May 7, 2019 by Will

The sniper that holds America’s longest kill shot record was arrested near Ft Braggfor reckless handling of a firearm and discharging a firearm inside a building on Saturday.

Confusing local reports indicate that an “unattended death” occurred at the house where Army sniper Nicholas Ranstad, 40, was later arrested. The investigation is ongoing, so the police were unable to release any further information.

Based on the information available, it sounds like Ranstad, who is employed by United States Army Special Operations Command (USASOC) at Fort Bragg, was conducting a health and welfare inspection on a comrade who didn’t show up for duty.

Once Ranstad arrived at the residence, he picked the lock on a window to let himself in. Upon discovering his dead comrade with a possibly self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, Ranstad became overwhelmed with grief and fired four rounds from his personal weapon.
I ask, sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people. To disarm the people is the best and most effectual way to enslave them. — George Mason, during Virginia’s Convention to Ratify the Constitution (1788)

longest confirmed kill. not to belittle that feat, the confederates were using a James 6 pounder to kill individual union skirmishers at Appomattox.

Darn that’s too bad, RIP to the departed in this story. I get why and hope he can recover emotionally and professionally from this, I lost a partner this way.

“The explanation value of the evolutionary hypothesis of common origin is nil! Evolution not only conveys no knowledge, it seems to convey anti-knowledge. How could I work on evolution ten years and learn nothing from it? It does seem that the level of knowledge about evolution is remarkably shallow. We know it ought not be taught in high school, and that’s all we know about it.” (Dr. Colin Patterson, senior Paleontologist at the British Museum of Natural History)
