Please Help! Anything Helps! Will Work For Food!

Well, not really but I wanted an attention getting title because I need all the help I can get.

My HP All In One desktop with remote keyboard and mouse started giving my wife fits today. It seems when ever you press any key or space bar in the "search" box, the letter "v" shows up before what you just pressed.

For example, If I wanted to search ThePoliticsForums.con , It would look like this:

    vTvHevPoliticsvForumv.vcom

That is useless to perform any task on. Even just hitting the space bar will produce this: v v v v v

I did a system restore to a month ago and it did nothing to help the situation. I also looked for any unusual programs, especially from today and found nothing.

I should mention that my wife said the screen is all backwards and stuff. It was rotated 90degrees and the mouse even worked backwards. I fixed that with a ctrl>alt>up arrow key.

The HP has an on screen keyboard that works fine. Typing produces no "v" but a real pain to use.

Please help me. I must mention that I am on my laptop right now.

Save what you need to, wipe it and install a fresh OS. Will it take a regular keyboard?

I do not know how to install a fresh operating system. I am only a gnat in the technical world.

Did you try replacing the batteries in the keyboard?

BTW, I have a similar HP system. The original keyboard was such a frustrating cheap POS that I finally got an aftermarket Logitech keyboard and mouse set. The space bar on the HP keyboard had one switch in the center, so that if I hit the space bar toward either end nothing often would happen. The Logitech keyboard and mouse worked fine with the existing drivers.

Have an old keyboard laying around from another computer? Try plugging that in. Something tells me it's the keyboard and its interface. Maybe try jiggling where it plugs into the USB. Also check the keyboard batteries.

Yikes! Those things aren't cheap, pricewise.

Run a search for sticky keys and how to fix them.

I was thinking that too. The V key is stuck with food or drink.
