Never read anywhere where James Roosevelt ever met Ho, though I do know FDR was intent on breaking up the British and French colonial rule around the world, including SE Asia. Is there a source online for this meeting? We did have OSS people in contact with the Viet Minh and also in the south of Viet Nam, mainly to protect French citizens there, but I can't find any meeting between Ho and James, just between James and the Chinese leadership. Cheneault appears to have handled most of that stuff in the early 1940's.

that is most difficult to do. timeframe wouldve been AUG 1941- OCT 1941.
on his whirlwin world tour to go to; Gambia, Crete, Egypt, Iraq, India, China, ( where he meets with Chaing, before he meets with both Giap and Mihn, before making it back to the US to speak to daddy, before his placement as a raider.
during the long march, those armies splintered many times. Giap fled nam headed into southern china in may 1940 to hook up with the remnant of the communists who kept heading south.
if you trace Jimmys timeline, he had a meeting with Wm. Donovan in either india or china before speaking to Chaing Kai Shek. youre right. never went to nam. nam came to him.
and it wouldve been " Deer " which got the arms drop.
