Blementhal released a statement on this: "And, there I was, looking in to the flames covering the Connecticut Rice Fields, all set by the MAGAcong. I rushed in to the flames, but, there was nothing I could do, despite my great and remarkable acts of heroism....."
Al Swearengen: What's your partner so mad about all the time?
    Sol Star: He's not mad.
Al Swearengen: He's got a mean way of being happy.

W/o clicking on the link for fear my brain will turn into much, the answer to the OP question is most likely, "Climate Change Believers." Or, O'Crazio. Take your pick.

    This wasn't a one-man band.

Someone had the brilliant idea, someone else agreed with it, and then the boss gave it the green light.

Just yesterday, I had the joy of sharing what I paid in property taxes w/my sister who lives in CT. Thought the poor girl would stroke out. (As opposed to strike out. She doesn't even like baseball.)

Do I dare call her back today to inform her of what she just got through paying for? Heck, I had to call her cell phone 'cuz her landline wasn't working. And she didn't even know it.
    Guess I better not. lol.

We don't pay property taxes here.

But what we used to pay in California was a felony.

Bwahahaha! Looked at the link, and saw that it's the town where my sister's husband grew up, and they lived for many, many years. Now I gotta say something. (Will leave out the taxes part, though. I'm not that mean.)
Btw, Ridgefield is one of the more affluent parts of an already affluent area. The town doesn't even allow fast food restaurants. Apparently, it's a mistake to think such an area would draw some the smarter people on the planet?

It's great that you pay no property taxes. The wrongness of it has been a bone of contention of mine for a long while.

How, then, are your schools, libraries, etc., funded? The problem w/my question, however, is that it's a misnomer to think that property taxes ARE what funds those services in the US. At least in our county, that's true. It is but a drop in the bucket.
Still, it'd interest me to learn other ways for the public to contribute, than property taxes. If you've got some, I'm all ears.

I thought everyone knew that to dry out a baseball field you give a bunch of illegal aliens terry cloth towels and let them soak up the water.

A wet baseball field? Where is the drought they promised as part of global warming?

Personal contributions, mostly. We're godparents to dozens of kids and buying them school supplies and uniforms (well, we buy the material and mom sews the uni's) is a never ending endeavor.

But it's still a drop in the bucket compared to our property taxes in Cali.
