Notice Who Is Carrying The Fight Against ISIS?

The Kurds. They have been doing most of the fighting and taking the most of the few casualties ISIS is inflicting.

Result: The Kurdish nforces are now the most experienced fighters in the region (excepting the US and Israeli forces.
The US tried to teach the Iraqis how to fight but they wanted no part of that. In 2019 the Iraqis are as helpless as ever. The Russians try to help the Syrians but they are equally inept.

The Kurds learned one thing from the Americans. Logistics matter. Unlike everybody else in the region (except the Israelis and US forces) their officers do not treat their supplies like an opportunity to systematically enrich themselves. So when the Kurds engage, they have adequate supplies of beans, bullets, batteries and fuel. So they can win battles.

The Kurds may not be perfect but they are WAY ahead of everyone else, including the Turks.

Battle experience and honest logistics matter a lot. The Kurds will be a real load for the Iranians or Turks and they wildly overmatch ISIS, Iraq, or Syria.

Ah yes but this is a very complex situation. All the time in Syria there has been three wars going on simultaneously:

    1. West vs Russia - for political influence and control
    2. ISIS vs all the other moslems - to create the world calpihate
    3. The struggle of Kurds for ther own nation.
It all goes back to Lawrence of Arabia, Churchill and the Cairo Conference of 1921

Lawrence of Arabia Helped the arab tribes shake off the colonialism of the French and Italians. In 1925 they called a conference of the arabs, along with Musa al-Husayni. the leader of the arabs. The idea was to assist the arabs create self rule, which did eventually happen.

However at he same time there were the Kurds. The Kurds were spread out across what is now eastern Turkey, northern Iraq and western Iran. They wanted thier own homeland as well, Kurdistan, like the arabs got with Egypt. So, instead of doing that, they carved the Kurds up into three lots.

One lot was given to Turkey. One to Iran , and the third lot were lumped together with a load of Shhiets and suni moslems. to form Iraq, thus create a nation of three tribes all of whom hated each others guts, and creating a time bomb that too kanother 80 years to go off. The Kurds were fobbed off with "Oh well this is just temporary, we'll sort out your hoeland later". This was called the Sykes Picovant Agreement, and they are still waiting.

Ever since then the three groups of kurds have demanded a joint homeland.

This is why the Turks refused to join in the gulf war at first - they didnt want to arm the turkish kurds, in case they rose up against the turks. The turkish kurds breaking away would carve a massive lump off Turkey.

This is why they attacked ISIS - they consider it thier land

Also, as they hated the other two groups, the shiites and sunnis. Ideal opportunity to wipe them out

Iran would also lose a lump of land to a new Kurdistan, so they are against it

Even Israel is opposed to it, cos they see it as a new organised arab enemy

    The Yazidi are mainly Kurds.

    See how complicated this is?

Complication is simplified when you realize the Kurds are now the third best fighters in Southwest Asia - behind the US and Israel.

The Kurds could in theory bite off a third of Turkey's land and about 40% of its population.
