Cool Stop using Internet Explorer, warns Microsoft's own security chief

I didnít even know we were able to access it. My latest Windows10 update enhanced Edge and, as much as Iím not thrilled with it, itís my secondary browser.

As it stands, I only use it to do one of my daily crossword puzzles.
In a blog post, Mr Jackson warned that companies using Internet Explorer are taking on a ďtechnical debtĒ to pay for support on old software and could end up using ďa 1999 implementation of web standardsĒ if they didnít take all the necessary measures to update it when creating new web pages.

I use the old IE just for messing around on the web, won't 'sign-in' to anything with it.

It still works, but oddly enough - within the last few days I've gotten a 'pop-up' saying something about using a modern browser to view/use the site.

Depends on how you 'tweak' your internet settings for IE. Or, dependents on how MS sets them for you with updates.

IE used to be my primary browser. Never had a problem, well others said it was dangerous/unsafe.... Still - it is outdated. Win7 still incorporates it, and I can see that it's still manipulated with updates, which I still see as necessary. just gotta be wary of what the updates are doing.

M$ might be 'badmouthing' it 'cause we still have considerable control over it, verses Edge.

I ceased using IE back in the bad old days of MS neglecting IE6 until competitors started eating their lunch over security issues. Never had a reason to revert. My Win10 home computer has Edge on it. It was awful when I first tried it. I tried it again a year or so later, and I had to close and reopen Edge every 2 or 3 days. So I don't/won't use it. I've been using Vivaldi for months, maybe more than a year. It has a minor quirk on vBulletin forums, but otherwise is fine: it's non-MS, non-Google (= not based on Chromium), and non-Mozilla (= not Firefox/Waterfox).

its a heap of shite, and has been for decades. Firefox, Chrome or Tor are far better.Even Opera, which is the IT equivalent of a diesel Reliant Robin is preferable.

Been using Firefox ESR because the other branch of Firefox sucks. I also have Palemoon installed. The only time I use IE is when doing windows updates on 7 since the updates don't want to run on another browser.

Bill Gates was on a news show last night telling about how the rich don't pay enough in taxes. I yelled at the television, "Well write a fucking check to the Treasury for a few million. It's not like you can't afford it!"

Several years ago Gates was applauded for throwing several million at a charity, but somone pointed out relatively speaking Gates donation was the equivalent of somone on food stamps donating three cents.
