Socialist Medicine Open Your Eyes People are Ya BLIND

Another thingy about our "Employer" Based Health Insurance System is that WORK is not always CONSTISTANT or things go south and unless ya wanna PAY through the Nose for COBRA which is only TEMPORARY at that..

Id rather pay an OUTRIGHT 10% Tax on all my Wages for CONSISTENT like Medicaid Program and you Just HAVE IT and atleast BASICS are COVERED...

    And understand BASICS too..

Alot of times a Catastrophy starts out as just a Basic Problem but putting it off due to LACK of Basic Care becomes a Life Threatening situation

Ask me First Hand and I am willing to bet a number of YOU here on this BOARD have been there too atleast at Some Point

Also remember too YOU are Already "PAYING" for it NOW whether ya realize it OR not

Atleast we would have a More "Organized" and FUNDING "Mechanism" to COVER "ALL"

It seems so simple when you're looking at it from the ground up.

Yes, I understand. Socialized medicine seems like some kind of Panacea, to some people.

    But trust me, it's not.

I was in the healthcare profession for many years. Under socialized medicine, every hospital becomes like the county hospital. So you will wait 24 hours in the ER before you get to see a doctor, and when you get out you will wait an additional six hours before you can get your prescription medication.

Is that sounds attractive to you, then by all means go ahead and participate. As long as they don't make it mandatory, because I'm not going to touch that stuff with a ten-foot pole.

I don't like County hospitals, they give me the willies.

Instead of taking everyone down to the lowest common denominator, why don't we go the other way? Why don't we try to elevate everyone up into a better standard of care and treatment?

We could do that VERY EASILY if the government would get off its lazy corrupt butt.

I take the middle ground I'm a Brit I know the realities for the NHS system.

It's neither as bad as it's made out to be or as great as it's heralded to be.

Mexicans are missing a trick here though I'd be setting up hospitals on the border to get the US medical tourists.

Sue culture in the USA definitely contributes to the high costs, also taking 3 times as many pills per person as the the UK.

    It would never be 10% @Karl .

The "hook" may begin at 10% but with these socialist tax hungry demorats in office, I bet the low end after initial "trial" period may be like 25% of your take home.

Yes . . . NO county hospitals for me either. NEVER

I ran a sawzall blade in my eye back maybe twenty-five years ago. Co-worker drove me to emergency room. Waited and waited for hours. No service. We left to go to the eye doctor that we did work for and he took us in. It turned out OK with my eye.

County hospital in Bradenton (Yes, Manatee Memorial it's called) sent our plumbing company a bill indirectly through the insurance we had at the time. Insurance wasn't going to pay them so they redirected bill to our plumbing company. It was like $300 as I remember this. $300 for me to wait in their waiting room.

Nope, no county morgues for me.

Gee Karl why go that high? My youngest once said to me "I don't mind paying an extra 1 or 2 percent so that everyone can have free health care". Heck, I wouldn't mind that either. I also wouldn't mind a buying a brand new Corvette for a dollar down & a dollar a month. BUT if I were to do a little research on the cost of Corvettes I would find that it's NOT POSSIBLE. Just like if you would do research on the TRUE COST of socialist health care you would find that 10% doesn't cover it. Just don't compare the income tax numbers which are higher than ours & ASSUME that's it. Look up ALL OF THEIR taxes (& they have some real inventive taxes). Sure gas tax is easy to see (we might pay $2. per gal & they pay $8. because of extra taxes). And sure we pay 8% on a new car & they pay 18%, that too is obvious. But do YOU PAY a tax on how many windows you have in your house, tv's you have in your house, closets you have in your house? Those are REAL TAXES in different countries Karl. You would never think to look for them because you ASSUME that all of those other countries are basically like us & they aren't. Now I'm not saying that you need to do the research before posting here, but I sure as hell wish that you would do the research before voting for something that you don't know the facts about.

Now as for FREE healthcare. Except for the cost which will mean that you will never be able to build true wealth it's great for the young. Got a cold, flu or some other minor ailment & pop into a clinic & you get treated (after waiting a long time usually). So the young vote for it because it is wonderful for them. BUT is sucks for the old people that need REAL medical care (& your getting there Karl), real being life or death stuff Karl. That's more complicated & you have to WAIT YOUR TURN. And sometimes you don't live long enough to get that treatment. I'll post this video below again Karl & please watch it & learn. Stop assuming & research the FACTS. Oh & also don't assume that the Americans live the same or have the same genetics as other people because as a whole we screw ourselves up more than a lot of races (if you want to label our population as a race).

If you can walk in, it means you're not dying.

You have to go in with the ambulance. If you go in with the ambulance, they figure you might be dying, so they'll take a look at you right away.

I'll throw this out. It's my own belief & I've never seen a study nor have I found anyone that addresses medical care from this angle but here goes.

Our country is FULL of people that want to get rich & they LOVE THE IDEA of getting rich without working for it. So because of that lawyers have stepped forward & are willing to sue anyone for anything. How often have you seen advertisements for lawyers doing class action suits for medical procedures or products even if YOU DIDN'T SUFFER ANY DAMAGE OR ILL EFFECTS? Hey I took a drug or had something put in my body that didn't affect me at all but hell I'll joint that lawsuit & see if I get free money from it. That's the way people look at it. And the end result is over pricing on everything because you might have to pay HUGE AMOUNTS of money to a lot of people or you HAVE TO PAY HUGE AMOUNTS OF MONEY for legal teams to defend your product. I actually know of a product that was taken off the market for no other reason than the legal costs became more than the company made on the product. And yes the company never lost a court case but they just had to keep fighting them in court.

Doctors used to take chickens, hogs & maybe even cattle in payment. Not possible these days because medical insurance for doctors starts off around $100,000 per YEAR. So they have to make $100,000 BEFORE they make one cent toward supporting their families or paying on school debt. In my mind Americans complain about the high cost of medical care & yet they are one of the main reasons for that high cost. Before we demanded that our doctors be perfect (which in my mind is impossible) our medical costs were low. Of course there's other reasons like the high cost of machines but those costs are heaped on top of the basic cost of a doctor making a living.

Oh & add to that the added costs of a hole lot of EXTRA tests because the doctor has to do them to prove that he was ruling out things that could have been the problem even though the likelihood of them being the problem is very very small.

Oh & I'll add that just the other day I got a notice that I (my wife & I) are being included in a class action for a data breach & we had to do nothing to be included. It was just ASSUMED that I would want free money for something that really didn't affect me much at all. And who REALLY makes the money...……..The LAWYERS.
