It seems that about every 6 months or so Karl opens up a topic like this. They are all the "I'm the little guy & life is unfair" type posts. We post on them & he never comes back. I wonder is it that he is drinking & feels sad or maybe he does feel that everyone deserves a free ride on the things that are important to him. I have no idea if those are the reasons or if it's some other reason he posts them.

Each & every one of them brings one thing to my mind. That's the fact that I wish that I had worked in a job that pays as much as truck driving in my career. Living like I have with a lower lifestyle so that I could put money away I would have done a lot better in life, not that I'm not doing well now.

A medical data breach is very serious.

I don't even want the government knowing about my Healthcare, but I mean oh, there are certain parts of Health Care that are specially protected, for example if you've ever been to rehab or if you have mental health issues or if you have HIV or something.

Here in Hollywood we have a special problem with the paparazzi, they regularly try to hack the medical records of celebrities.

Meh... money comes and goes. People put a lot of self-esteem in money, I don't think that's a good idea. When I was in my early twenties, I did the roller coaster from riches to rags and Back Again. At 24 I had more money than God, I had a dozen custom made guitars in my living room and I never had time to play any of them. Then a couple of years later I was broke and homeless and living in a tent city in a public park. Then a couple of years after that I was leading red teams for a big security consulting outfit. Now in my old age, I just finished switching careers, now I'm in the music business and doing just fine. It was a bit of an effort changing careers, I went broke once in the meantime - and then they spend some years taking care of my aging mom, so I couldn't come back right away. Money was never important, it's more important now that I have kids. By the time they get to College it'll be a hundred grand a year each, so IO and off to work I go. I give wifey most of my money, because once in awhile I get a stick up my butt and I feel like spending some, and the stuff I covet is kind of expensive, so she protects me from Wild hairs. I don't need any money at this point oh, my outflow is near zero when I'm not buying guitars lol. The only time I spend money is when the kids want to go to Disneyland, and that is absolutely equivalent to a very nice guitar. Let me see, last time we went to Disneyland which was about a year-and-a-half ago, it cost me a grand total of 1800 bucks for 3 days. I could have bought a brand new top-of-the-line Stratocaster for that. But strats come and go, and the look on my daughter's face was priceless. Some of the best times I've ever had in life were when I was Dirt Poor, but I don't think the kids could handle a dirt poor dad. My situation is somewhat unique, I'm supposed to retire in a couple years and my kids aren't even teenagers yet, so like, I'm going to wait till I'm 72 so I can max out my social security. lol

    - and then they spend some years taking care of my aging mom,

Last weekend I drove down & picked up my step father. He isn't able to live alone anymore & he is next to the oldest person in his family with no younger people to take care of him. We are adapting pretty well & he is living in my upstairs apartment. He is in medium physical/mental shape so it hasn't been that much of a problem. Sadly I got into the picture 2 months after his medical problem kicked off & a nephew was having fun at his expense (money wise). Paying his part of his rehab stay for 2 months, his property taxes & insurance & buying things for him that he needed & hadn't bought for himself did put a small strain on finances. Glad that this happened when we just happened to have a lot more cash on hand than we normally do. Things should level out on finances in a month or two.

Oddly the hardest part was him loosing his wallet. A hint for everyone (very important). Keep a picture ID of some sort (a couple would be better) somewhere OTHER THAN your wallet/purse. It seems that you need a picture ID to prove who you are to get new ID's & he didn't have any. What a pain!
