Burger King is offering 1-cent Whoppers at McDonalds

I'm sure that there will be debates on whether a discussion on Burger King should be posted in a Food forum!

Burger King is using its competitors own restaurants as part of a devious new promotion.

Their Whopper Detour deal is giving customers Whoppers for a penny. But, and here comes the sneaky part, customers have to be using the Burger King app to order and be at a McDonalds.

Business Insider reports that the Burger King app will recognize the users location as being at a McDonalds and unlock the penny deal. After you place an order for the Whopper, the app will detour you away from McDonalds and navigate you to the closest Burger King so you can pick it up.

The Burger King twitter account puts it like this:

Order a Whopper for a penny only at McDonalds with the BK app. yes, you read that right. drive near a McDonalds and use the BK app. no need to go to their drive-thru. get yours before December 12th.

The deal starts Tuesday and runs through Dec. 12th. For more information see the Burger King website.

McDonalds has $1 hamburgers, here...and Knucklehead gets one each time we're out.
If you don't practice...you'll sound like it. And, if you don't tune, your life will sound like it, too. Listen to the intervals. That's where it all hides from you.....

This sounds like the triple-crown of Fail. It's going to cost Burger King a fair amount of money. It's going to annoy customers. It's going to get McDonalds up in arms - their property is for their CUSTOMERS, not their competitors' customers staging themselves.

It will be interesting to see how many sub-idiots actually invest the time in this. Busy people know what each tastes like; and won't much care; and just want to eat, not play games. Of course the local idiots out promenading in their jacked-up-diesel pick-em-ups, will welcome the chance to make more noise, smoke, and enemies. Fills the time - they hate the eight hours they spend on government "employment" but don't have much else going on.

    Clever.

But, I don't know how effective.

Can't wait to see how McDonalds responds...

Eat that crap and you will regret it. Anything other than a candy bar that cost a buck is more than likely not all that nutritious or healthy in the end.

Okay. I had this discussion with a n00b a month or so ago.

Take a hamburger - of which a Whopper is one - apart. Let's find the non-nutrition in it.

Bread...check. Bread is the staff of life. White bread is the crappiest bread known to Man; but it's still bread.

Sliced onions and tomato...check. Be better if they didn't use an aluminum slicer (having worked at a Burger King, I can tell you of the black residue when cleaning the slicers, end of day) but they are vegetables. If they're using stainless-steel slicers, fine. If they're still using aluminum...I haven't seen many aluminum-poisoning deaths over the years.

Cheese...check. A dairy staple over the years. The blandest kind of cheese; but it's still a milk derivative. Hardly junk food.

Beef...check. Good food. Burger King took McDonalds' lead in the 1960s and also sourced 100-percent beef.

Ketchup and mustard....point taken. That is garbage. Doesn't kill people, though.

...And a bottom slice of bread, the bun-bottom.

So, how would this differ from having a slice of beef, a roll, a salad with onions and tomato? Let's dispense with the culinary snobbery, here.
