Welcome! We'll disagree on much, probably, but I try not to be disagreeable. I have relatives who "disappeared" during Stalin's version of Marxist Socialism, so I don't have sympathy for Socialism of any flavor (including non-Marxian flavors).

I can't afford your capitalist cookies lol

I was a capitalist for a long time. Dad was/is a Dittohead and indoctrinated me very thoroughly. I ran a small business for 10 years where I totally took advantage of my slaves, er, employees and they made me quite a bit of money! At the time I was "providing a valuable service to the community", but now I see I was taking advantage of someone's bad luck.

Hello, I see you're hungry. Come help make me rich and I'll give you some peanuts. The alternative is you can starve. <--- That's just not right. Profiting off someone's bad luck isn't right.

I grew up poor. Mom worked 2 jobs at min wage because she planned to be a domestic engineer (housewife), but dad split after he completed college and left mom to her own devices which qualified her for shit. So I grew up poor because mom had faith in dad and because there were no societal safety nets, nor a decent wage she could earn. Kids shouldn't have to endure that just so a rich guy can get richer. Trickle-down doesn't work and isn't even mathematically viable; it's hare-brained.

You're correct that it's the dark side.

    Hello and welcome.
Hey! I really appreciate and applaud your laissez-faire attitude towards registration and obvious support of free speech. Too many sites go out of their way to make it hell on newbies which is presumption of guilt before the action. They say spam is so problematic that newbies have to prove their innocence and earn privileges. I don't know how much truth there is to that, but you seem to be getting along ok. Anyway, I can't applaud you enough for having open borders

Oh, and censorship is also where I part from lefties. There is a lot of that desire for control on the left and I don't agree with overmanagement and totalitarianism. Just basic social programs (handouts), that's all

I try to be genuine. If conservatives would end prohibition and embrace some social programs with support for a decent min wage, I'd rather be on board with them because the left is loonie.

A Bernie fan? Hmm, looks like youíre going to need our TPF First-Aid kit. Have you any previous history of addictions, welfare, food kitchens? Was an urge to collect tax-payers wealth a sudden attack, or is it ongoing? Any headaches, verbal diarrhea, hallucinations? Does it hurt when you try to think? Come over to the window please. Open wide, look up at the sky. Scream! Thatís it and again? Thatís fine. Throat hurt when you try to speak common sense?

Unfortunately, thereís a lot of this about, but youíve come to the right place and you probably also need some of our TPF counselling sessions.

Thatís fine. Take a ticket and take a seat please. Dr. Chop will see you shortly.
Well you'll have to socialize the cost of this visit because I don't have insurance

Probably what you and I consider socialism are different.

Admittedly, I don't know much about Stalinism, Marxism, but I tend not to work under labels. Tossing around words that have different meanings to different people is a good way to get confused.

Essentially, I'm advocating putting the tax structure back how it was when America was great, then using the surplus of money to fund society instead of war. Seems innocent enough.

An educated and healthy population without impoverished kids is worth more to me than letting a billionaire keep more of his money. And heck, many of those guys are trying to raise their own taxes anyway, but get resistance from poor conservatives who shouldn't have an interest in whether billionaires pay more taxes.

A group of millionaires have been trying to raise their own taxes since 2010. About Us - Patriotic Millionaires

The mission of The Patriotic Millionaires organization is to build a more stable, prosperous, and inclusive nation by promoting public policies based on the ďfirst principlesĒ of equal political representation, a guaranteed living wage for all working citizens, and a fair tax system:

If you're not one of them, then why would you care? That's what I can't figure out.

Then you might say, "Why don't they make a charitable contribution to the IRS?" Because there are better charities and it doesn't work if only a few make contributions. The tax structure should be returned to the good ole days of the 50s and 60s. Trump has taken us back to the 1920s right before the Great Depression by following precisely in the footsteps of Hoover, which is fine if that gives us another FDR.

Now you might say that handouts make people lazy. Well, there's no evidence of that. Rich schools outperform poor ones and rich kids gets get more handouts (unearned advantages) than poor kids, yet only 4% of people from the bottom 5th make it to the top 5th. It's such a rare occurrence that they write books and make movies called "Rags to Riches" when it happens. If it's true that adversity causes prosperity, then poor neighborhoods should be churning out geniuses while the coddled rich neighborhoods would be plagued with drugs and crime due to all the laziness, but it's not what we see. Handouts causing laziness may seem common sense, but it doesn't translate in actuality. If it were true, then I could ruin your life by giving you money.

I'm not advocating totalitarian control, but simply going back to what was successful for decades and funding social programs with the extra loot.

We all want a perfect world, unfortunately it doesnít exist and up to date it has been a bloodbath trying to socially engineer it. So, how many social programs has it taken and how many trillions have been spent in America since the 60s trying to alleviate disparities in wealth to produce the highest poverty rates in history? Look around the west and youíll find that the highest welfare spending countries have the highest growing rates of poverty. Thereís a correlation between how much you take off some to give away to others hoping the result will produce a balance of equality Ė it never does.

In reality some are rich, others are poor and the vast majority of us are in between. America didnít become a superpower within a couple of centuries because of social programs and trying to spread the wealth around, but itís become a mess after eight short years of Obama because of them. There are some 43 million on food stamps in the US and around 192 million workers trying to keep the rest in welfare. Itís not more social programs that are needed its less and more workers.
