Gov. Jerry Brown posted this photo to Facebook Monday. "Back to the future! Cruising in my old blue Plymouth." He drove the Plymouth, somewhat famously, when he was governor the first time starting with his election in 1974.

Anyone who thinks they are not trying to bring back the Carter Years, here's your sign!

He did do that in the old days. I lived in CA then. If I remember right he did not live in the Gov mansion either. No limo, no police escort. Seemed like a GOOD politician. Then he opened his mouth and nuttiness fell out.

More "You can't make this shit up!"

The FL legislature is considering raising the speed limit to 75 on the big I and to 70 on rural roads.

I'm for it but why are they doing it?

We have 160 legislators in FL. They HAVE more than 160 sppeding violations between them.

35 of them have more than 10 violations.

The top dog has 43 traffic violations all by himself.

One has 20 violations. He is the Chairman of the Transportation and Safety Committee.

If the cig smells like pot it's legal. If it smells like tobacco it's illegal.

Update on the FL, Can't make this shit up.

The hi speed train is going forward, on $1.5 BILLION of "borrowed" govt money.

The plan is for 28 110mph trains to go thru the county [about 15 RR crossings] between 6AM and 9PM (15hours divided by 28 trains, you do the math) There is but a single track so the 22 freight trains will have to operate between 9PM and 6Am as the speed difference is too great for them to both use the SINGLE [OLD] track in the same hours.

The update is that with the expanded Panama Canal nearing completion, The Florida East Coast Rail Co, FEC, expects freight traffic to TRIPLE.

    66 freight trains between 9PM and 6AM??????????

That's 9 hours, or 540 minutes. A FREIGHT train every 8.2 minutes! All night long!
And a 110mph pax train every 32 minutes all day long! [OK I did the math for you].

Note also that about 40 miles south of here is a railroad swing bridge that must be opened for boat traffic and closed for train traffic.

So every 32 minutes a train comes. It takes 2 minutes for the fast train to pass. 34 minutes, It takes at least 2 minutes for the swing bridge to close for the train, 36 min., and at least 2 min for the bridge to reopen for the THOUSANDS of commercial and pleasure, and fishing boats. 38 minutes. So the boats have 22 minutes of the hour to get past the bridge.

I actually lived in Cali a few decades. ANY change can be deliberately distorted if you intend that.
In Cali... you had the choice of breath, blood, pee...or GUILTY. Now..I guess if you refuse rather than guilty they go blood teast. Well.. harder to force the others. It actually gives the suspect a bit more chance..he/she might pass. The old rulew.. you are GUILTY...and for drivers who are close to the line.. that can be bad news.

MANY say Min Wage adds to the economy. Given that Cali is not a cheap cost of living...even Temps working a Labor Ready Day job tend to get over $9 hr. Parking Lot illegals getting day jobs,... set a minimum of $10 hr. If you undercut the other 30 guys...don't come back the next day. That's the rule. I live in Ohio..the local college bans smoking ANYWHERE. Heck.. I Had college classes in Cali where you could smoke in the classroom. Smoking at a college football or basketball game, at a dance, in the lunchroom...no problem. That's changed but it's changed everywhere. LONG ago, driving east we thought we'd stop at Utah St U and dine in the cafeteria.. to our surprise..we could not smoke indoors. Now...that ain't just a Mormon thing.

Transgender high school kids...restrooms...what is the best choice? Well..there isn't any. However there's few transgender HS students. I did ride a bike in California. It could be on a winding mountain road or a busy street in town... Cars that miss you by INCHES.. and don't care... are upsetting. I drive a cr too.. and I see bike riders who seem to have a death wish.

ALL this... is CALIFORNIA having the right to pick a program. They can't dictate to Texas or Florida..it goes both ways. All this stuff has some points either way..but the choice made is not that unusual. Other states actually often match some of those policies.

They need a bathroom set aside for flakes only so they can get it on in there and knock themselves out.

When I was in basic training in the AF in 1959 we had a queer in the squadron, and we gave him a blanket party one night. The next day the sob was gone, discharged. Try that one now?

Census Bureau: California still has highest U.S. poverty rate

    Obama wraps up California fund
    raising trip

California continues to have – by far – the nation’s highest level of poverty under an alternative method devised by the Census Bureau that takes into account both broader measures of income and the cost of living.

Nearly a quarter of the state’s 38 million residents (8.9 million) live in poverty, a new Census Bureau report says, a level virtually unchanged since the agency first began reporting on the method’s effects.

Under the traditional method of gauging poverty, adopted a half-century ago, California’s rate is 16 percent (6.1 million residents), somewhat above the national rate of 14.9 percent but by no means the highest. That dubious honor goes to New Mexico at 21.5 percent.

But under the alternative method, California rises to the top at 23.4 percent while New Mexico drops to 16 percent and other states decline to as low as 8.7 percent in Iowa.

The only other state to approach California in the alternate rankings is Nevada at 20 percent, although Washington, D.C., is close at 22.4 percent.
