I don't follow "futbol" at all, but I saw on the news last night that Russia beat someone and they acted like that was it, the Cup. Guess not, eh?

The nature of soccer is weird. I watched enough of it for a while to figure it out, though I only watch the World Cup every 4 years these days. Spain had a much more talented team than Russia, but based on the nature of the game 1-0 games or 2-1 games are very common, even when supposedly mismatched. I know, it is confusing, but usually the more highly rated team wins, even though it is usually by the narrowest of margins.
You're always drunk last night. LOLOL

The reason that happens is because the referees control the one thing that really matters in soccer - the clock. They can and will and do manipulate "injury time", added to the regular 90 minutes at the end of the match, to favor the more highly ranked team.

England lost at home yesterday to Spain 1-2 in the UEFA Nations League.

England's Nations League campaign opened with defeat as they were beaten by Spain in their first match since the World Cup.

Marcus Rashford gave England the perfect start with an 11th-minute strike from Luke Shaw's pass but Spain responded with an almost instant equaliser thanks to Saul Niguez's low finish.

Rodrigo Moreno then took advantage of poor marking at a free-kick to score the winner from close range after 32 minutes.
