Think it will pass?

Republicans in the Senate and House are expected to introduce a joint bill Friday that would limit the amount of ammunition that federal agencies are allowed to buy and stockpile over the next six months, the Washington Free Beacon reports (http://freebeacon.com/gop-bill-seeks-to-cut-back-government-ammo-purchases/).

The bill, titled the Ammunition Management for More Accountability or “AMMO” Act, is being proposed after several lawmakers have voiced concerns about some federal agencies, like the Department of Homeland Security, seemingly stockpiling large quantities of ammo.

“DHS, for instance, has placed two-years worth of ammunition, or nearly 247 million rounds, in its inventory,” the Free Beacon notes.

In a statement provided to the Washington Free Beacon, one of the bill’s co-sponsors, Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), said federal agencies must provide more “transparency and accountability” in regards to its “stockpiles of ammunition.”

“President Obama has been adamant about curbing law-abiding Americans’ access and opportunities to exercise their Second Amendment rights…One way the Obama administration is able to do this is by limiting what’s available in the market with federal agencies purchasing unnecessary stockpiles of ammunition,” the statement adds.

But according to the Left, the only thing government does with the money it steals from us is schools, police, and the fire department.

Talked with a Exc at Hornady, and the Government order is open ended and they are not demanding delivery!

Acording to him the biggest reason for the shortage it the 17 million new gun owners and of course when they bought their gun they bought a few boxes of ammunition!

This was coming off a stressed market from the War in Afganistan and Iraq! And there was a 22LR manufacture in England that closed shop, making the demand on rimfire, more than production capasity!

He suspects that the government order will never be filled, especially when the public foun out! And if the new owners become shooters, it will take about 5 years for production to meet demand!

He also mentioned that the componate manufactures are now behind so they can't even run 24 / 7 manufacturing right now!

for those that want to continue to train, I suggest Air soft! it may be the only way you are going to get a lot of firing time! in the next few years!
